The Lay Community of Saint Benedict welcomes all who seek a closer walk with God. Newcomers are warmly invited to join local groups, and come to our events and retreats to find out more.
By being a Friend of the Lay Community of Saint Benedict
Friends of the Lay Community are people who support the work of the Lay Community of St. Benedict and are interested in exploring St. Benedict’s Rule yet do not wish to commit themselves to membership. Friends of the Lay Community will receive regular news from the community, and are invited to join our Prayer Circle, as well as being welcomed at meetings, events and retreats.

By becoming a Member of the Lay Community of Saint Benedict
We welcome anyone who wants to discover with us what it means to live holy communion, create holy space and offer holy service in response to the call of Christ. We are scattered throughout Great Britain and abroad but connected to one another through a shared commitment to prayer and meeting together regularly. There is normally be a period of mutual discernment before any enquirer is invited to take our Promise and membership may follow, which our Administrator will be happy to explain. Once a member you will receive our community magazine (published three times a year) which has news and articles by community members, and access to the on-line forum and members-only section of our media resource website.

Weekend Retreats at Worth Abbey, West Sussex
There is a programme of retreats for teenagers organised by the Lay Community of Saint Benedict youth worker in conjunction with The Open Cloister at Worth Abbey, a Benedictine Abbey in the heart of West Sussex. The retreats are a great opportunity for young people to get together and share their faith journey with their peers. Each weekend has a balance of prayer, input, sport, creative activities and free time.
There are also separate retreats for those aged 11-14 and 14-18.

Summer Activity Week
There is an activity week held at Worth Abbey, open to all teenagers from 11-18. The week runs from Sunday to Friday in August during the school holidays, leading into the LCSB AGM weekend.
Young Adult retreats at Worth Abbey
There is a programme of retreats for young adults (Ages 18-24) run in conjunction with The Open Cloister at Worth Abbey in Sussex. Visit The Open Cloister website for more information: click here.
Trips to Christian festivals
Members of the LCSB also occasionally arrange trips to other Christian festivals such as Bright Lights, Celebrate, Taizé, Green Belt and New Dawn. Further details of any trips will be made available via this website as and when they are organised.
