The Balanced Life Essay Competition

The Balanced Life Project invites you to explore one of the 4 Pillars of the Balanced Life by entering our essay competition. Your essay is to be based on one of the below four questions, whereby each question corresponds to one of the four pillars of The Balanced Life: purpose, relationships, healthy habits, and impact.   • “My life has changed since the coronavirus pandemic and will never be the same again.” Is this true, and if so, what purpose do you now see to your life, and how will your life change?
  • How has the coronavirus pandemic allowed you to develop new or existing relationships?
  • How has self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic helped you to develop healthy habits?
  • “The world has changed since the coronavirus pandemic and will never be the same again.” Is this true, and if so, what is the impact, and how can we ensure that the change is of lasting benefit to you and to the planet?

Our panel of judges will be announced shortly.
The following criteria will be used to judge responses.
·      Shows a healthy understanding of a Balanced Life
·      Demonstrates how their chosen pillar is essential to a Balanced Life
·      Contains the writer’s personal experience (rather than merely a study of concepts)
·      Broadens our view of the chosen pillar
·      Originality of ideas or stories
·      Provokes thought and inspires action

For the Balanced Life Essay Competition we are delighted to announce that Tim Livesey, long-term member of the Lay Community of St Benedict, has agreed to chair the judging panel. We are also very pleased to say that Timothy Radcliffe, leading theologian, writer preacher and communicator with the young, will be a judge. And Kate Banks, teacher, theologian and writer, has also agreed to be a judge.
