Local groups are an important way in which members create and live community.  Each meeting is a 'holy space' where those who come seek God through prayer and sacred reading. Members also find God in the support they give to each other.

Local group meetings are open to both members and non-members of the Lay Community of St. Benedict.  Everyone is welcome.  Meetings typically take place during the evening once every two to four weeks.

Dumbledon (south London group)

This group is based in the Wimbledon area of London and meets once every three weeks on weekday evenings at members' houses. Married couples and single people meet together to share fellowship, lectio divina and a meal. The core group has been established for over 18 years. North Downs group

The North Downs Group meets every three weeks in Reigate. We begin with tea or coffee before spending time in lectio divina together. We spend a short while discussing questions or ideas that come out of our reading and finish with prayer for one another and our needs. We are a small, relaxed group and open to new members. Oxford group

The Oxford group usually meets for half an hour of Lectio Divina on Friday evenings at 6pm every fortnight. For further details please contact Helen O'Sullivan on 07719 378614.  

Sevenoaks group

We are an ecumenical group, which meets in a member's home, with participants of all ages from teens upwards, including LCSB members and non-members. We meet, usually on the second Monday of the month (but please check in advance), from 8.00 to 9.30pm. Meetings take the form of meditation and music followed by lectio divina and a cup of tea. For further details email contact@laybenedictines.org

South Wales group

The South Wales group meets on a weekday evening once a month between 7.30 and 9.00pm. It is a small group of 6-8, depending on who is available. We generally read some scripture, have some silence, and share some prayer before a brief cup of tea. For further information, please email southwales@laybenedictines.org

Wolverhampton group

This group is based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.  It meets every 2 to 3 weeks usually on a Saturday evening starting at 8.00 pm.  We pray and study together. Everyone is welcome to come, whether a member of the Community or not.  For further details, email wolves@laybenedictines.org.
