Members of the Lay Community of St. Benedict seek to
live holy communion
create holy space
offer holy service
in ways appropriate to their daily lives.
Small groups
The core activity of the Lay Community of St. Benedict consists of regular gatherings, including small group meetings, praying with scripture (lectio divina), sharing hospitality and companionship. As well as the small groups, members are also connected by a Prayer Circle which ensures that members are praying for one another regularly.

Regional meetings
These are the focus for the wider community to get together and take place several times a year at various locations across the UK. Guests and friends of the Lay Community are very welcome.

Youth
The Lay Community of St. Benedict, in partnership with Worth Abbey, has an extensive programme of events for teenagers and young people. They meet for a range of activities centred on Benedictine values of prayer, lectio divina, hospitality, service and fun.

Retreats
We are developing a programme of retreats for the spiritual formation of members and enquirers. Please see our Events pages for more details. We also work in partnership with the Open Cloister at Worth Abbey to assist with parts of their retreat programme.
Hospitality and service events
We also host a range of 'service' events, highlights of which for 2004 included:
- A week for families, including members with special needs, at Worth Abbey;
- A service week in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey, hosted by the young adults of the Lay Community;
- A summer holiday week for elderly people, at Worth Abbey;
- A weekend of Carol Singing in the Milton Keynes area.
